Release date

The film is currently scheduled for a Christmas Day release, and will hit cinemas and streaming (details below) on December 25th, 2020.

Wonder Woman 1984 will stream on HBO Max

With the pandemic still majorly hampering cinema attendence, there was an ongoing debate on whether or not Wonder Woman 1984 would stick with its 25th December theatre release, whether it would delay the release, or whether it would switch to streaming instead.

Well, the results are in! The film’s release will not be delayed. It will drop on HBO Max on Christmas Day with no extra charge to subscribers. But if you had your heart set on seeing the movie on the big screen, don’t fear – it will still be released in select theatres on 25th December.

Who are the villains in Woman Wonder 1984?

From everything we’ve seen and heard about the movie so far, there are two main villains. The first is Barbara Minerva, who is played by Kristen Wiig. An oppressed and downtrodden character who is envious of people who have had ‘everything handed to them,’ Barbara appears to leap at the chance to transform into predator Cheetah; and it looks like we’re in for some incredible fight scenes between her and Diana!

The second villain is Maxwell Lord, who is another well-known DC supervillain. He’ll be played by The Mandalorian himself, Pedro Pascal.

How is Steve Trevor back?

As the trailer shows, Chris Pine is back from the dead to play Diana’s love interest- pilot Steve Trevor! But how is that so, considering he was gunned down at the end of the first film?

Well, according to the movie’s tie-in junior novel, an artifact known as the Dreamstone makes its way to the Smithsonian where Diana works, and it’s used to resurrect him. This may not ring true for the film itself, though.
